The UNESCO Chairs and Universities Network for Latin America on Tourism and Peace (RED/TUPAZ) participated in the first edition of the Intercultural Traveling School: Oral Literature, Traditional Medicine, and Creativity, held in Bogotá from 16 to 19 June 2026. The initiative was led by the University of Rosario, University College Cork (UCC), and the Pontifical Xavierian University, with the support of RED/TUPAZ through the University of Cartagena and the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development Research (ICCDS).
The international programme offered a learning experience designed to foster dialogue between academic knowledge and Indigenous knowledge systems, addressing topics such as oral literature, Indigenous perspectives on peace, traditional medicine, sustainability, epistemic justice, and the decolonisation of higher education. Through academic sessions, participatory workshops, meetings with Indigenous leaders, and field activities, participants explored new ways of understanding, creating, and collectively constructing knowledge.
The Intercultural Traveling School reflects RED/TUPAZ’s commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue, the diversity of knowledge systems, sustainability, and the construction of more inclusive and peaceful societies. It also strengthens academic cooperation between institutions in Latin America and Europe by creating shared learning spaces that address contemporary global challenges from intercultural, territorial, and collaborative perspectives.
The programme was aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, professionals, and anyone interested in epistemic justice, sustainability, intercultural studies, the social sciences, cultural management, and territorial development.
