We are pleased to inform you that the Women for Africa Foundation has just launched the annual call for applications for its online scholarship programme Learn Africa Canarias 2023-24 with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In the framework of this programme, TIDES and the UNESCO Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development, offer the course Tourism and Women in Africa https://mujeresporafrica.es/lac_2023/10-ulpgc-tides-tourism-and-women-in-africa/.
This course is On-line, and will be held in English from 27 October – 1 December 2023.
Since its launch in 2020, 670 women from 44 African countries have been able to enrol in one or more of the online courses attached to the 900 scholarships offered under the programme to date.
This year’s call is characterised by the variety of subjects in which the courses are framed, such as renewable energies, new technologies, infectious diseases, tourism and women, economics, entrepreneurship or international relations, among others, and by the emphasis on the teaching of the Spanish language on the African continent. The call includes specialised short courses, Spanish courses and university training courses designed by the Universities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and La Laguna (ULL) and their foundations, Fundación Universitaria de Las Palmas (FULP) and Fundación General de la Universidad de La Laguna (FGULL), as well as the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC).
All of them will be taught online and are scheduled to take place between September this year and March 2024. All the information about the call for applications, as well as the steps to follow to apply for a grant and the requirements for each course, are available on the Foundation’s website. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is today, 5 September, until 20 September. The courses will be closed as places are filled, so we recommend that you send your application as soon as possible.
We provide you with the links to the web pages of the call for applications in Spanish, English and French, so that you can send it to those young African women interested in applying for a scholarship:
