Mission:
The UNESCO Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development of the ULPGC seeks to transfer and put into practice the knowledge produced, cooperating with local communities in developing countries, to address the comprehensive development of tourism activity, which has a direct impact on well-being. of the target populations, strengthening their capacities and valuing their culture and respect for the environment.

To constitute a world reference, integrating scientific knowledge with the sustainable economic development of tourism, in a laboratory of ideas, which allows the free circulation of knowledge and cooperation.
Goals:
In line with the priorities of UNESCO and its strategic programs, the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets (SDG, UN), as well as with the collaboration of other UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks, the UNESCO Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development in The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria seeks to cooperate with the social, economic, environmental, and cultural development that sustainable tourism implies, mainly in local communities in developing countries.
