The Greetingman sculpture, created by Korean artist Yoo Young-Ho and standing six meters tall, commemorates the historic relationship between Korea and Gran Canaria.
The UCTSED took part in the installation ceremony, held at the Plaza de Canarias in the Port of Las Palmas, a place where the Korean community played a significant role during the last third of the 20th century.
This sculpture is part of an international project that seeks to convey a message of peace and reconciliation through the installation of one thousand figures around the world, as a symbol of unity among nations, cultures, and races.
Currently, several sculptures from this project have already been erected in Uruguay, Mexico, Panama, and Vietnam.
The event was also attended by various authorities, including Kyungrae Cho, Consul for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Korea.
