Full Professor of Ecology at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. His research focuses on Biological Oceanography and Climate Change. He served as Vice Chair of the international IMBER (Integrated Marine Biosphere Research) project under the IGBP (2008–2013), and as a member of the IPCC Expert Panel (2014–2019).
